Description:

Army Ants are 1/8 inch in size.  They are dark red to brown in color.  Army Ants have scissor like jaws.

Behavior:

An Army Ant has large, complex colonies with thousands of workers.  They are blind and rely on their antennae to sense direction.  These ants are carnivorous and primarily feed on animal carcasses.  Army Ants will also feed on the protein in dead insects.

Army Ant Control:

An Army Ant infestation is best controlled with direct applications of insecticide to their nest sites.  Reduce excessive moisture and keep property free of debris to help avoid Army Ant problems.

Fun Fact:

Army Ants often move their nest from place to place.  For this reason, they will construct their nesting site using their bodies by locking jaws and creating tunnels.
