Dust Mite

Dust Mites

They’re everywhere and anywhere, but we can’t see them.  Dust Mites are present in most structures.  Unfortunately for us, they are known to cause Asthma and trigger allergies.

This pest is extremely small in size and can only be seen under a high magnification.  They are a light cream color and egg shaped.  An adult female Dust Mite lays 1-2 eggs each day for 30 days.  Development from egg to adult takes around 1 month.  As adults, they are only 0.5 mm in length.  This is why Dust Mites are so hard to see with the naked eye.

Adult Dust Mites feed off flaked skin, also known as dander, from humans and pets.  However, this pest is a danger to people with Asthma and Allergies.  This is due to their exposure, shedding of their exoskeleton, and fecal matter.

The places you are most likely to find Dust Mites are in furniture, mattresses, and pillows.  Dust Mites like these conditions due to the warmth that a human body puts out.  Vacuuming regularly with a high efficient filter can greatly reduce Dust Mite activity.

To control Dust Mites, a residual must be applied on the interior of a structure to effectively kill the Dust Mites.  If you would like to schedule a treatment or courtesy inspection for Dust Mites, call Essential today at (520) 886-3029.
