What’s the Difference between Bees and Wasps?

Many people are stung in the United States each year by Bees and Wasps.   Although not all stings are reported, Poison Control Centers treated 9,333 sting cases in 2006 alone.  Did you know that some auto accidents are caused by Bee or Wasp stings?   It’s true!  The effects of being stung by a Bee or Wasp can distract a driver, causing them to lose focus.
Wasp Removal

Although Bees can become aggressive, Honey Bees are the only type that can sting just once.  Where as all species of Wasps can sting multiple times.  The reason for this is because Wasps stingers are not barbed and are not pulled out of their bodies.  Another difference between Bees and Wasps are Bees appear to have hairy bodies, and Wasps appear to have smooth bodies.

All things considered, if a Bee or Wasp lands on you, don’t panic.  Instead, gently blow on it.  However, if you are experiencing Bee or Wasp activity on your property, you should contact a local Pest Control company to safely remove the threat.
