Pests That Pose a Risk to Your Health

Did you know specific pests can have negative effects on your health?  Although it is an unsettling feeling to know that certain pests can harm your health, it’s better to know than not know.  With that said, here’s the scoop!

60% of all Asthma attacks are allergy related.  Unfortunately, Cockroaches can trigger allergies.  The fact that cockroaches are gross and they are known to spread over 30 types of bacteria is an uneasy feeling already.  However, they may also trigger Asthma attacks, especially in children.  Their droppings, saliva and debris from their decomposing bodies contain proteins that can cause an allergic reaction that can trigger an Asthma attack

With the presence of West Nile, Mosquitoes can be a major health threat.  Aside of causing diseases, they may also cause allergic reactions from their bites.  Mosquito bites can cause itchy and disturbing marks.  The irritation of a Mosquito bite is inevitable and if scratched, will only cause more irritation.

Lyme disease is carried by Ticks.  They transmit this disease through biting their victim.  If bitten by a Tick with Lyme disease, flu-like symptoms will occur.  It can also cause a rash and extreme fatigue.  Ticks are not only a risk to humans, but a risk to animals as well.

Stinging Insects

Bees, Wasps, Scorpions, and other stinging pests send more than 500,000 people to the emergency room every year.  Stings from these pests are usually caused to due protection of their colonies.  Stinging insects can cause pain, allergic reactions, and skin irritation.

If you are seeing one Ant, chances are there are more to follow.  Ants are dangerous food contaminators as well.  The bite from Ants can be painful and cause skin irritation or allergic reactions.

Although Fleas seem to be more of a pest to your pets, that is not the case.  Fleas bite warm blooded bodies.  This bite can cause irritation and allergic reaction.  Fleas usually bite bodies that are on the move, including you, not just your pets.  Chances are if you have Fleas, you have Rodents.  If you do not have Fleas, but have Rodents, the Fleas may soon follow.

Their droppings can cause allergic reactions, as well as diseases.  This includes the deadly Hantavirus.  They also contaminate food sources by the bacteria they carry on their bodies.

This pest is not only a nuisance, but a danger to our health.  Although their droppings can cause an annoyance, that is the least of our concern.  Their feces are highly acidic.  Alike to rodents, Pigeons can carry diseases.
