How to Get Rid of Earwigs

The most common misconception about Earwigs is that they crawl into your ear while you sleep and eat your brains. On the contrary, they do not.

Earwigs are dark brown to red in color and have six legs. They are long and narrow and found throughout the United States. Although Earwigs feed on leaves, flowers, fruits, mold, and other insects at night, they hide during the day.

This particular insect is usually found outdoors in large numbers. They can be found under piles of debri, in the holes of trees, or under mulch. Earwigs are often blamed for the cause of damage to flowers and crops. However, this pest does not always stay outside. On occasion, Earwigs are found in damp dark areas of a structure. The way that they enter a structure is through exterior cracks and crevices.

Controlling this pest is handled by direct application of insecticide. These insecticides are applied to targeted areas where Earwigs hide and feed. If you have any questions about Earwigs or would like to schedule a free inspection, call Essential Pest today at (520) 886-3029.
