What Are the Signs of a Bed Bug Infestation?

Bed Bugs Tucson

The thought of a bed bug infestation is enough to make anyone feel jumpy. Unfortunately, these pests are as small and hard to notice as they are irritating. If you find evidence of a bed bug infestation in your home, it’s a good idea to call for professional pest control right away. Since
bed bugs are difficult to see, however, you may have an infestation without ever observing the insects themselves. Here are some telltale signs that bed
bugs have moved in:

Empty Bed Bug Shells

Bed bugs shed their exoskeletons, or shells, as they grow, which means you’ll find these wherever bed bugs are living. These shells look like bed bugs, of course. You may find them on
your baseboards, stuck to your mattress, or even inside your box spring. Even one empty bed bug shell is a sure sign that you have a pest infestation to deal with.

Bed Bug Waste Stains

When bed bugs are living somewhere, they leave fecal stains behind. These stains are brown or black in appearance, and they are generally small and inconspicuous. They may be in placeswhere they are difficult to notice, but they may also show up clearly on bedsheets and mattresses. If you suspect you have bed bugs, do a quick visual inspection for any unusual dark stains.

Bed Bug Bites

One possible sign that you have bed bugs, of course, is that you’ve been bitten by them. However, bed bug bites can easily be confused with bites from other pests, such as spiders. Also, many people don’t have reactions to bug bites. If you have raised, itchy bite marks—and especially if you have a line    of multiple bites in a row—in combination with other signs of bed bugs, then you could have an infestation.
